Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- The state’s largest day of giving, 401Gives broke records and raised $3M plus for 500 different organizations. United Way reportedly said, since the event's debut in 2020, 401Gives has raised more than $6.6 million for nonprofits in Rhode Island.(WPRI.com)
- The Rhode Island Department of Education announced Tuesday that Dr. Javier Montañez has officially been named the new, permanent Superintendent of Providence schools. He will be the superintendent through the 2023-2024 school year. (Turn to 10)

- Oasis International a Providence based non-profit that serves the African immigrant community and low-income neighborhoods has canceled its annual youth trip to Washington D. C. due to the fact that many of the sites they usually take the children are still closed due to Covid-19 restrictions. Instead, the organization has planned day trips for the children that are closer to home such as Mystic Aquarium. (Turn to 10)
- According to the National Weather Service, March 2022 was warmer and drier than average making it the 12th-warmest on record in Providence. The average temperature for the month was 42.1 degrees, slightly higher than the 30-year average of 38.9 degrees. (Patch)
