  1. Councilman John Goncalves proposed a resolution Thursday asking Gov. McKee and Education Commissioner Angélica Infante-Greene to mandate that all K-12 teachers and school employees get a COVID-19 vaccine or submit to weekly testing. Citing the Centers for Disease Control, he said Providence County has been classified as an area of substantial COVID-19 transmission. Nearly 800,000 Rhode Islanders have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, however school children under 12 years of age are not yet eligible, leaving them at a high risk for contracting and spreading the virus, he said. 2. The Providence City Council on Thursday night voted to bring a series of administrative charges against City Clerk Shawn Selleck, setting up a process that could ultimately end with his removal. Among the accusations, are claims that Selleck harassed and bullied colleagues and created a toxic work environment. There was no discussion among the council members prior to the unanimous voice vote on the charges. (WPRI.com)
