Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- A former Providence school administrator accused of fondling a boy’s foot is now suing Warwick police. He claims that insufficient evidence and false statements led to his arrest. Dr. Olayinke Alege resigned after police charged him in April with simple assault following a complaint. (The Providence Journal)
- Attorney General Peter F. Neronha announced Thursday that a Providence man was found guilty in Providence County Superior Court of committing multiple counts of sexual assault against a female victim in 2012. On Sept. 30, following the conclusion of a nine-day trial before Superior Court Justice Joseph A. Montalbano, a jury found Victor Tavares, 35, guilty of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and one count of conspiracy. A sentencing hearing will be scheduled in Providence Count Superior Court for a later date. (WJAR)
