🌱Gas Prices Fell This Week + David Letterman Thanks R.I. Hospital

Here are the top five stories in Providence today:

1. Using data from AAA and statistics gathered by Stacker on gas prices in the capital city and the surrounding area, on average, the current price for a gallon of gas is $4.08. That is down about eight cents from the prior week and up an estimated $1.31 from this time last year. (What'sUpNewp)
2. A contract between the City of Providence and Laborers' Local 1033 includes raises every year and makes Juneteenth a city holiday. It is a three-year contract that begins July 1. (Providence Patch)
3. A video from David Letterman, thanking R.I. Hospital for taking such good care of him last summer after he fell, while taking a walk in providence, has been posted on Lifespan’s YouTube channel. The comedian and former late-night talk show host tripped in the city last August when he was visiting Providence with his son. He was knocked unconscious and had to be transported via ambulance to Rhode Island Hospital. Letterman reportedly says in the video, "... I have nothing but lovely things to say and think about with regard to the Rhode Island Hospital and the emergency department. Thank you again to one and all.”(The Providence Journal)
4. Get ready to get outside! On May 13, Al Fresco on the Hill returns to Federal Hill. It will be ongoing for 20 weeks. The initiative helps restaurants maximize seating by allowing outside on Atwells Avenue. (Turn to 10)
5. A former Providence school administrator, Olayinka Alege, 41, was found guilty Friday of giving a teenage boy a foot rub against his will. He was convicted of simple assault, a misdemeanor, for the incident that took place at a Warwick gym. The conviction results in a one-year court filing, meaning that if Alege doesn’t commit any crimes in that timeframe, the charge will be expunged from his record. The teen involved told the court he felt violated and offended by Alege’s actions. In an interview with the Warwick Police Department, Alege denied taking the boy’s shoe off without his permission.
