Here are the top four stories today in Providence:
- Amping up safety around Providence schools, six new Speed Cameras have been added to the capital city in school zones. The new cameras bring the number in the city up to 20. The cameras are used by the police to ticket drivers for speeding violations in school zones. The cameras operate between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., on school days. (Providence Patch)
- Some Providence residents are not happy that bail for Hector Larios was reportedly set at $1,000. Larios, 25, of Providence, was charged with enticement of a child after allegedly attempting to kidnap a 13 year-old boy in Providence Friday. He is now out on bail. Assistant State Court Administrator Craig Burke, said in an emailed statement to NBC 10, that Larios will have active supervision by District Court while on bail. Larios is due back in court on July 25. (Turn to 10)
- There are 57 lower-rent apartments in the new ‘Superman’ building the remaining 228 apartments will be rented at market rate. However, some are questioning whether those "low rent" apartments are actually affordable? (WPRI.com)
