Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- Pizza lovers take note, more than 40 area restaurants will be taking part in the first-ever Providence Pizza Week, which starts on Sunday and will run through the 30th. Luckily for Rhode Island school kids, Pizza Week coincides with school break. (WJAR)
- Officer Jimmy Allen, badge number 297, died in the line of duty on April 17th, 2005, inside the Providence Police Department headquarters. He is remembered on the anniversary of his murder as "one of Providence’s finest." (The Providence Journal)
- Will smoking at Bally’s Twin River casinos in Rhode Island be banned? Casino workers testify in favor of a bill that would do just that. Reportedly, the workers say that when smoking was temporarily banned on the gaming floor during the height of the pandemic, they experienced a a positive impact on their health. (WLNE-TV (ABC6)
