  1. A man reportedly attempted to stab his mother on Prairie Avenue in Providence and then bit and spat at police while resisting arrest. According to the victim, her son became belligerent, grabbed a screwdriver, held it to her neck, and threatened to kill her. The suspect was located nearby a short time after the reported incident and was placed into custody. (GoLocalProv)
  2. The 36th annual "Warm Thy Neighbor" fundraiser kicked off in Providence on Tuesday at the United Way headquarters. The program provides home heating assistance to Rhode Islanders who are experiencing financial difficulty. The campaign has set a fundraising goal of $350,000 this year. (WPRI.com)
