Here are the top five stories in Providence today:
- Anastasiia Raina, a Rhode Island School of Design assistant professor has spent the last five days traveling to Moldova to get her mother Olga Proskurina, a surgeon who has worked for the last 35 years at the Research Institute for Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Vinnytsia, out of Ukraine. The two are currently in Vienna awaiting news about Proskurina's visa to see if she can come to Rhode Island with Raina, at least until the war is over. (The Providence Journal)
- With a hefty price tag of $54million, Providence College is seeking to build a new six-story dormitory that could be ready by September of 2023. The sophomore-only dorm will be 123,000 square feet and include between 355 and 360 beds. It will bear the name of former college president Rev. Brian Shanley and be named Shanley Hall. (The Providence Journal)
- Thirty-five Rhode Island artists opened an exhibit put on by the Warwick Center of the Arts at the Atrium Gallery in Providence on Capital Hill. The show will run through March 23. Be sure not to miss it! (Providence Patch)
- After a year plus, former Speaker of the House Nicholas Mattiello returned to the Rhode Island State House. The reason for Mattiello’s return was to advocate on behalf of RIALA for House Bill No. 7502.(Uprise RI)
