Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- Braving new territory, last year, Gov. Dan McKee signed off on legislation making the Ocean state the first in the nation to authorize harm reduction centers. The centers will be designed to provide a safe space for people struggling with addiction to inject illegal drugs under the supervision of medical professionals. Organizations that want to open the first harm reduction centers in Rhode Island can now submit an application to the R.I. Department of Health. (WPRI.com)
- According to Zumper, a real estate rental platform, just like everything else in 2022, the cost of renting in the Providence metro area has increased 15% year-over-year. This makes Providence the city with the 23rd highest rent in the United States.(GoLocalProv)
- A new Providence Community Health Center is opening in Olneyville and no one will be turned away regardless of insurance. The new center is located at Atwood Street, making it the ninth PCHC in Providence.(WJAR)
