Providence Man Charged In Fentanyl-Related Death Of 15-Year-Old Girl
Prosecutors said Juan Pizarro gave marijuana and fentanyl pills to two teen girls at the Motel 6 in Warwick. One of them overdosed and died.
PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arraigned Monday after the Rhode Island Attorney General's Office said he gave fentanyl to two teen girls at a Warwick motel, which caused one to overdose and die.
Juan Pizarro, 34, was arraigned in Third Division Court and was charged with engaging in a controlled substance transaction resulting in death of a minor. Pizarro is being held without bail at the RI Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston.
On April 4, Warwick police arrested Pizarro and charged him with delivery of fentanyl to a person under the age of 18, but the additional charge came after the teen's death.

On April 3, Providence police responded to a report of a death of a 15-year-old girl. According to court documents, Pizarro met the teen and another 13-year-old girl at the Motel 6 in Warwick and provided them with marijuana and a pill containing fentanyl.
The next day, the state medical examiner's office conducted an autopsy, which revealed THC and fentanyl in the 15-year-old girl's system. Authorities said the 13-year-old girl received treatment at Hasbro's Children's Hospital in providence and was later released.

Pizarro is scheduled to return to court for a status conference on May 1.
