Prosecutors say James Moses, 30, of Providence, was caught with more than 100 videos of child pornography.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was arrested by FBI agents Wednesday after sending child pornography to an undercover officer, U.S. Attorney Zachary Cunha said.

James Moses, 30, was charged with distribution of child pornography and possession of child pornography.

Federal prosecutors said Moses uploaded sexually explicit video involving prepubescent boys and adult men during online communications on several platforms. He also stored videos of child pornography on his personal digital devices, prosecutors said.

In May 2024, an FBI agent posing as a person interested in child pornography began talking to Moses online. Prosecutors said the conversation lasted more than two weeks, and resulted in Moses sending the undercover officer videos of child pornography.

On July 15, FBI agents contacted Rhode Island State Police as part of their investigation of Moses. Prosecutors said agents learned state police were already involved in a separate investigation into Moses possessing child pornography.

Two days later, state police searched Moses' home and found more than 100 videos of child pornography on his electronic devices. He was arrested and charged with possession of child pornography and was released on $2,500 bail.

Moses was arrested again Wednesday on the federal charges and was ordered detained at his appearance in U.S. District Court in Providence.
