- Mayor Elorza announced today that the Providence School Board Nominating Commission is looking for candidates for the Providence School Board. Each term is only 3 years, with this year’s applicants starting in 2022 and ending in 2025, although applicants can reapply if their term is expiring. The application deadline is Friday, Dec. 10 at 4:30 p.m. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
- An East Providence man broke into a Swansea impound yard twice and led officers on brief chase before being taken into custody. 18-year-old Biron Gabriel Chalas-Lopez is accused of breaking into the impound yard at Brad’s Auto on Wednesday evening and Thursday morning, driving through the G.A.R. Highway business’ gated fence. Chalas-Lopez is facing numerous charges, including two counts of breaking and entering into a motor vehicle during the daytime with with intent to commit a felony, malicious destruction of property over $1,200, trespassing, disturbing the peace, and receiving stolen property under $1,200.
