Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- Police are investigating after a gunshot was reported inside a Providence nightclub. Shortly before 10 p.m., shots were fired inside Club Fantasies at 28 Sims Avenue. According to police, upon a sweep of the club and investigation, they found at least one shell casing in the bathroom and are currently reviewing security footage. (GoLocalProv)
- United States Postal Inspection Service Inspectors caught a Providence man who was trafficking cocaine. The Postal Inspectors were able to track several parcels that they believed to be containing narcotics mailed to the suspect. Jesus Martinez, 49, has been sentenced to 10 years in a federal prison for being in possession of 500 grams or more of cocaine with the intent to distribute. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
- 76 percent of Providence police officers have been vaccinated against COVID, as opposed to their counterparts at the Fire Department, which had a 97 percent vaccination rate as of early Oct. (WPRI.com)
