Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- A sinkhole appeared on Route 10 north at the Westminster Street overpass in Providence on Sunday night. The hole appeared in the right lane, causing travel to be limited to just the left lane while it was repaired. The hole was patched up by Rhode Island Department of Transportation crews by about 5 p.m and all lanes were reopened. (WJAR)
- A Brown University alum won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics Sciences. Guido Imbens MA ’89, PhD ’91, received the award, along with David Card and Joshua Angrist, for his work on causal inference. Imbens has worked on a variety of projects, including education research and work on inequality and mobility. (The Brown Daily Herald)
- Providence police made multiple arrests while breaking up large parties over Halloween weekend. (GoLocalProv)
- Award-winning professor and former administrator for the Providence Public School System, Susan Adler Kaplan, has passed at 84-years-old. (GoLocalProv)
