Here are the top stories today in Providence:

  1. A Providence bar will remain closed until at least Wednesday after a man was shot and injured over the weekend. 43-year-old Phil Towns sustained four gunshot wounds after a man opened fire as Towns left the Sport’s Tap bar with his cousin on Sunday around 1:30 a.m. The licensing board has so far found no evidence that the altercation happened inside the bar in the city's Valley neighborhood, but is continuing to review security footage. (New Canaan Advertiser)
  2. A pastor reported that shots were fired into a Providence church shortly before noon on Sunday morning. Police responded to the Open Table of Christ Church at 1520 Broad St. and met with the church pastor, who said his employee found a window with a bullet hole in it, and that several rounds hit the building. The incident is currently under investigation. (GoLocalProv)
  3. WWE is coming to the Dunkin' Donuts Center on Nov. 1 and will be returning to Providence again next spring for a pay-per-view WWE event. (The Providence Journal)
  4. Providence World War I veteran, Pfc. Carlo Lafazia, will be getting a new monument in the city after the original monument in his honor was vandalized. (The Greater New Milford Spectrum)
  5. The parents of Miya Brophy-Baermann, who was killed in a random drive-by shooting in Providence nearly three months ago, are speaking out for the first time. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
