Here are the top stories in Providence today:
- Police have identified the man who threatened parishioners with a gun at the church where a priest was arrested this past weekend. 28-year-old William Nesbitt approached a group of people on Monday night at St. Mary’s on Broadway, flashed a gun on his waistband, and allegedly yelled at them for “supporting child molesters.” Nesbitt is facing ten counts of disorderly conduct and a count of carrying a pistol without a license. (ABC6)
- Six men, all of whom are in their teens and 20s, are facing gun and assault counts in a gang-related shootout in Providence. Nine people were hurt in the gunfire at 87 Carolina Avenue on May 13, where members of the Get Money Family gang opened fire at people associated with the Lakeside gang sitting on the porch. The defendants are scheduled to be arraigned this week and next. (WJAR)
- Providence police arrested Johan Quinones, 22, in connection with last week's laundromat homicide which took the life of Melvin Ricardo Perez Reyes. (WPRI.com)
