1. Roger Williams Park Zoo has named Stacey Johnson as the new executive director, following a national search for former executive director Jeremy Goodman’s successor. Johnson is moving to Rhode Island from California, where he most recently served as San Diego Zoo Global’s director of conservation science operations. Throughout his 30-year career, he’s held a variety of positions at several other zoos across the country, including ZOOWORLD, Palm Beach Zoo, and Forth Worth Zoo. (WPRI.com)
2. A young Providence boy has made it his mission to continue the work of a local non-profit by delivering to others a thoughtful gift he once received while undergoing treatment. One of 40 childhood “cancer warriors” across the country representing Boston-based nonprofit Resilience Gives, Henry is leading the charge at Hasbro Children’s Hospital to bring bright, colorful non-slip socks and gowns to children battling cancer. Just in Nov., Henry delivered 90 pairs of socks and 6 gowns with designs inspired by other children’s journeys with cancer. (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
