Here are the top stories today in Providence:
- Tommy's Pizza on Chalkstone Ave. in Providence closed on Monday after 66 years. Owner Tommy Sacco said the Providence pizzeria had been losing money for the last nine years, and the Cranston location wasn't enough to support the city location. The Cranston restaurant, which opened 12 years ago, will remain open and operated by Sacco. (The Providence Journal)
- Four recreation centers in the City of Providence are offering extended night hours for adults over the age of 18 starting Tuesday. Mayor Jorge O. Elorza announced that the Neutaconkanut, West End, Madeline Rogers and Vincent Brown Recreation Centers will now be open from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Monday through Thursday. All Providence Recreation Centers will maintain their regular hours while offering these additional hours for young adults. (WJAR)
- State police are looking for a driver who fled the scene of a rollover crash on Tuesday morning just north of Exit 23 on I-95 South where the highway merges with Rt. 146.(WPRI.com)
- Providence businessman Michael Shine has agreed to permanently refrain from participating in mail-order sweepstakes solicitations to resolve accusations that he scammed more than $10 million from vulnerable people, including the elderly. (The Providence Journal)
