Here are the top stories in Providence today:
- A dozen Providence residents have been displaced after a two-alarm fire on Bowdoin Street yesterday afternoon. While the Providence Fire Department was able to douse the flames of the three-story home in under half an hour, at least 12 people living in the building are unable to return for now. No injuries were reported and the cause is still under investigation. (WJAR)
- Providence police are investigating an early morning shooting at the Sports Tap on Harris Avenue. Around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, police were called to the bar after a 43-year-old man had been shot multiple times by an unknown suspect. The victim was taken to Rhode Island Hospital to be treated for his injuries and is currently in stable condition. (WPRI.com)
- The Diocese of Providence announced that the St. Benedict parish building in Warwick will close next month as it merges with St. Kevin parish. (WJAR)
- Pfc. Carlo Lafazia, a Providence World War I veteran, is getting a new monument this Spring after the original monument in his honor was vandalized earlier this year. (The Greater New Milford Spectrum)
- The highly-anticipated "Hocus Pocus" sequel, which is has been shooting in Providence, will be taking over Chase Farm Park in Lincoln this week with a big pyrotechnic stunt. (The Providence Journal)
