  1. This weekend's Waterfire honored our nation's service members ahead of the upcoming Veterans Day holiday. The Rhode Island Professional Firefighters Pipes and Drums performed, and representatives from the Providence VA Medical Center were available to offer information about healthcare and health insurance. A “Missing Man Table” was set up on Steeple Street to pay tribute to missing, fallen, and imprisoned service members, and a Veterans Resource Fair was set up on Washington Street. - WLNE-TV (ABC6) (WLNE-TV (ABC6))
  2. A 21-year-old Providence man is facing a firearms charge after being found with a loaded handgun, according to police. Jarren Smith was arrested on Saturday for possessing a firearm without a license. Officers pursued Smith as he fled from a group gathered at Codding Court and discovered he was carrying a Springfield XDM Elite with an extended magazine containing 17 rounds. 3. The iconic Haven Brothers Diner in Providence recently served as a shoot location for the Hollywood film Johnny and Clyde. The upcoming movie, which stars Megan Fox and Tyson Ritter, is being produced by Chad Verdi and directed by Tom DeNucci, both Rhode Island natives. Haven Brothers, whose downtown restaurant-on-wheels is situated next to City Hall, is no stranger to the film and television scene: The iconic diner has previously appeared in Federal Hill and Brotherhood, and on food shows like Rachel Ray’s Tasty Travels, Bizarre Foods America, and Man vs. Food Nation. 4. Rhode Island Senator Sheldon Whitehouse is co-sponsoring the bipartisan Sunshine Protection Act, a Congressional push to make daylight saving time permanent. Whitehouse has called daylight savings time an "antiquated and disruptive practice," and eliminating the biannual clock shifting would result in greater energy savings and lower rates of seasonal depression.
