Here are the top stories in Providence today:

  1. Pieces of three new wind turbines arrived in Providence on Monday morning. The Vensys 1.5MW turbines will be installed at ProvPort and Johnson & Wales University later this year by Green Development, LLC. A company leader says one wind turbine can provide the same amount of energy as eight to 10 acres worth of solar panels. (WJAR)
  2. East Providence celebrated the opening of a new $190M high school on Monday. Although the school has been open for students since the beginning of the school year, city and state leaders held a ribbon cutting Monday at the new East Providence High School. It's the first new high school in Rhode Island built under a state program that includes hundreds of millions of dollars in borrowing that was approved by voters a few years ago. (WJAR)
  3. Fox Point Manor tenants are speaking out against years of abuse, harassment, and neglect by Canning Management, the building’s managing company. (Uprise RI)
  4. The East Providence Police Department has appointed a 21-year veteran, Christopher Francesconi, as the new police chief. (The Providence Journal)
  5. A tractor-trailer tipped over on Monday afternoon, causing traffic on the eastbound side of Route 6 in Providence. (WPRI.com)
