Woonsocket Cop Accused Of Rape In Providence Bar Bathroom
Reports say the cop and victim knew each other. No charges have been pressed yet.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Woonsocket police officer may face charges after allegedly sexually assaulting a man in the bathroom of a Providence bar, a report says.
The cop was at a bar on Washington Street on Dec. 23 when he and another man told the victim to go into the restroom, WPRI reports a police report as saying.
The victim of the alleged crime knew the officer, the report says. The officer and another man followed him into the restroom where the officer blocked the door "and began to kiss" the victim. They also "performed oral sex" on him, the report says, before he was able to leave and call police.

Both suspects left when police arrived, according to the WPRI report.
The victim has not formally pressed charges, however. He initially told police he didn't want to file a complaint, the report says, but would call back at a later time.

WPRI reported Providence police spokesperson Lindsay Lague as saying there's no statute of limitations for the case, so if the "complainant came forward and confirmed the accusations, the case would still be open."

Providence police did not immediately respond to Patch's request for a police report.
