Here are the top five stories today in Providence:
- Dr. Jud Brewer, a psychiatrist at Butler Hospital, and the director of Research and Innovation at the Mindfulness Center at Brown University is helping people "lean into uncertainty" and navigate out of the pandemic anxiety. "Anxiety makes people more prone to getting sick because stress affects the immune system," said Brewer reportedly. To combat this problem, Brewer helped to create an app called Unwinding Anxiety. - The Department of Environmental Management (DEM) is inviting Rhode Islanders to get outside and get healthy! Join an all ages, all physical abilities walk at Lincoln Woods State Park on Wednesday, April 20, from 5:30-7:30 p.m, and be part of the premier event of a new DEM-wide initiative encouraging people to visit RI’s natural areas and state parks. - Two popular Providence restaurants are closing — North and Big King. Owner James Mark said he's closing the restaurants to take a break and spend more time with his family.(Providence Patch)
- Academy Award winners Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones were spotted having Easter brunch at Andrea's restaurant this weekend. The power couple was visiting the capital city because their daughter Carys Douglas, is a freshman at Brown University. (The Providence Journal)
