Richmond Home Damaged By Overnight Fire, Dog Rescued
Crews from Hope Valley-Wyoming, Ashaway, and Richmond-Carolina knocked down the Main Street fire in about 10 minutes.

RICHMOND, RI — It took firefighters 10 minutes to knocked down an overnight residential fire while rescuing a dog from a burning home.
Early Sunday, firefighters responded to a home on Main Street in the area of Spring Street for a working fire. Firefighters conducted interior searches and launched an aggressive interior attack, limiting damage, the Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District said on Facebook.
Firefighters rescued a dog from inside the home, and the dog was assisted on scene with an animal CPR kit maintained by the fire district. The dog "is reported to be alive and okay in veterinary care," the district said.

The Red Cross was called to the scene and is assisting the family.
Mutual aid arrived from Ashaway Volunteer Fire Association and Richmond-Carolina Fire District, each showing up with an engine and tanker. Main Street was shut down temporarily while firefighters stretched hose lines across the roadway.

"This was an outstanding stop on a well established fire by all firefighters on scene," the district said.
The Hope Valley Wyoming Fire District is looking for volunteer firefighters. Interested parties can pick up an application at the firehouse at 996 Main Street at Hope Valley.
