Driver Killed In I-295 Crash In Smithfield
The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. on I-295 North, about one mile south of Route 7.
SMITHFIELD, RI — A Smithfield man was killed in a late-night crash on Interstate 295 South Tuesday, according to Rhode Island State Police. Donal Houde, 48, died at Rhode Island Hospital not long after the crash.
The crash happened just before 11:30 p.m. on I-295 North, about one mile south of Route 7, police said. Houde's Chevrolet SUV was the only vehicle involved.
According to police, Houde was driving in the left lane when he swerved off the highway, hitting a large rock in the median.
