Emergency restoration services company marks forty years in business

Family-owned Enviro Clean Restore celebrates milestones and expansion

What does it take to stay in business for forty years? According to Eric Anderson, it takes vision, customer-centric service, and the willingness and ability to adapt in an ever-changing business environment.

Enviro Clean Restore was founded by Eric’s parents in 1983 as Insurance Reconstruction Services. Providing emergency board-up services and fire restoration, Insurance Reconstruction Services focused primarily on residential insurance claim work.

Today, the company has expanded its geographic footprint and breadth of expertise.

Following an early career adjusting property claims for major insurance companies, Jack and Karen Anderson originally established a company that specialized in reconstructing fire-damaged residential properties in Northern Rhode Island.

Over the next twenty years, the company grew and started offering additional services. In 1986 and 1991, Tech Design Build and Greenville Kitchen and Bath divisions were launched respectively to focus on custom home building and remodeling.

In 2002, Eric joined the family business to establish a new company division to address the growing mold and indoor air quality issues across Southern New England. They branded this company under the name Enviro-Clean, Inc.

The following year in 2003, Anderson added a structural drying division featuring state-of-the-art heat drying equipment called Water Out “Convectant Drying” and began servicing regional catastrophe and hurricane impact areas in Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, and Florida. They brought that new technology to the New England area and became pioneers of drying technologies and methodologies.

After purchasing the companies from his parents in 2016, Eric rebranded and folded all the companies into one brand called Enviro Clean Restore.

In 2021, Anderson acquired Air Duct Cleaning of New England, adding in commercial and residential duct and HVAC cleaning into their service offerings. This service is an obvious complement to fire and mold damage restoration projects, but also provides an additional service for clients who have yet to experience an emergency property loss.

Enviro Clean Restore now serves residential and commercial customers, with a focus on colleges and universities, hospitals, municipalities, public and private grade school systems, and property managers.

“We get to help people every day, and that’s pretty rad, but we are also building an environment within our organization that really cares about each other, and that’s incredibly important.” said Eric.

The company offers 24/7 response; 90-minute onsite guarantee; a three to five year warranty on craftsmanship; and a complimentary comprehensive digital emergency response plan which reduces downtime, saves unnecessary expenses, and significantly increases preparedness.

“Our values are centered on professionalism, dependability and friendliness,” said Eric. “Quality, customer service, and integrity are a given, considering we’ve been in business for over forty years now.”

Eric acknowledges the disaster restoration industry is changing. He said Rhode Island, in particular, has market saturation with respect to disaster restoration companies and that many franchises and private restoration companies are being bought out by larger corporations and private equity groups.

“We love being a locally owned business,” said Eric. “We are still large enough to handle multi-million dollar restoration projects, but small enough that a customer can reach the owner on any given day.”

When asked about the forty-year anniversary, Eric said, “It’s been nearly seven years since purchasing our companies from my parents. As we navigated a transition, I could not have done it without the help of some very key people and for them I am eternally grateful. And as I’ve reflected on our experiences these past seven years, I can really begin to appreciate the perseverance and dedication it took for my parents to create and sustain their companies. My goal will be to continue to build on the very strong foundation they built.”
