Firefighter Injured Battling House Fire In Smithfield: Report

The fire​ started around 7 p.m. Sunday, in the boiler room of a home on Putnam Pike, Smithfield fire officials say.

SMITHFIELD, RI — A firefighter was reportedly injured Sunday night while battling a house fire in Smithfield.

The fire started around 7 p.m. in the boiler room of a home on Putnam Pike, WPRI 12 reported. According to the television station, the fire was extinguished before it spread to the rest of the home, but a firefighter had to be taken to Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence.
