Friday Five: Self Defense, Tours, Dolphin Slide Today, Car Seat Clinic

SPD Female Self-Defense Class -  The Smithfield Police Department is excited to announce the 2013 Smithfield Police Female Self-Defense Program, which starts on Tuesday, March 12.

The program is offered, free of charge any female over age fourteen (14) who resides in Smithfield or works at a business in town. The program will meet once a week, on Tuesday nights, from 6:30 to p.m. for five (5) consecutive weeks.

Smith-Appleby Tours - Take an historic open house tour March 2, 1 to 4 p.m. at Smith-Appleby House Museum, 220 Stillwater Road.

Volunteer historians in Colonial costume conduct tours where visitors can learn about the 317-year history and architecture of the home, the Smith-Appleby family and eighteenth century living in Rhode Island. Watch demonstrations; examine period furnishings, clothing and household items; sample hearth-baked goods. $5 donation requested. Car Seat Clinic - The Smithfield Police Department will be conducting car seat clinics throughout the year. If you would like to schedule an appointment please call the Community Policing Unit 231-2500, ext. 202.
