The session provided a basic overview of the critical concepts of the 2012 IgCC, a high performance building standard developed by the International Code Council. The IgCC is an easy to follow alternative to LEED or Green Globes which can be used in meeting the requirements of the Green Building’s Act for Public Projects in Rhode Island. The Green Building’s Act requires that all state new construction and renovation projects, including all state agencies, and RI cities and towns, be constructed to an approved high performance green building standard.
On June 28, the RIGBC will be hosting a free full-day Advanced Training Session on the International Green Construction Code (IgCC) to be held at the New England Institute of Technology, Media Presentation Theater, One New England Tech Blvd., East Greenwich, RI.

The Advanced Training Session will provide a section by section detailed review of the provisions of the 2012 IgCC. Participants will also gain a greater understanding of how the 2012 IgCC fits within the context of other currently available green building rating systems and standards for use on the design of Public Projects in Rhode Island.
Architects, Engineers, Trade Contractors, Material Suppliers, City and Town Planners, Facility Managers, or any individual that wants to learn about the latest version of the International Green Construction Code should register to attend. Although the training is free, space is limited so you must register in advance through the RIGBC website at www.usgbcri.org.
The primary mission of the RI Green Building Council is to educate professionals and the public about sustainable design and building practices. The Chapter also promotes policies that will create sustainable communities in the region.
