Jerome E. Plante: Volunteer Firefighter

The Glocester resident passed away on Oct. 15, 2012.

 

Jerome E. Plante, 72, of Snake Hill Road, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Shirley A. (Morin) Plante. They were married for 34 years.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Edouard M. and Helen (Waterman) Plante, he lived in Glocester his whole life.

Mr. Plante was a truck driver for J H. Lynch & Sons in Cumberland until his retirement and was a member of Local 251. He was a volunteer firefighter with the Harmony Fire Department for over 50 years and also with the Chepachet Fire Department.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Lt. Joseph A. Plante, PFD and his wife, Denise, of Pascoag; Stuart R. Lallier and his wife, Elizabeth, of Honolulu, HI; Steve R. Lallier of Coventry; and Christine A. Bigwood and her husband, Mirko, of Chepachet; his grandchildren, Jason, Bronston, Amber, Taylor, Morgan and Alesia and a great grandson, Charlie; his siblings, Germaine A. Stott, Marie H. Howard and Capt. David G. Plante, PFD.

His funeral is private. Visitation respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 2374 Post Road, Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886 or RI Shriners, 1 Rhodes Place, Cranston, RI 02905.
