MA Man Admits To Robbing Bank In Smithfield
Radelle Hubbard admits he told a Smithfield bank teller, "I have a gun, give me all the large bills from your drawer."
SMITHFIELD, RI — A Massachusetts man admitted to a federal judge he robbed a bank in Smithfield, stealing over $2,400, acting U.S. Attorney Sara Miron Bloom said Monday.
Radelle Hubbard, 47, of Springfield, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty to bank robbery and is scheduled to be sentenced on June 24.
Hubbard admitted that on March 23, 2023, he entered a bank outside a Smithfield grocery story and told the teller, "I have a gun, give me all the large bills from your drawer." The bank tellers handed over $2,420 in cash, before Hubbard left. The tellers told police they did not see a gun.

Prosecutors said a private citizen followed Hubbard after he left the bank and gave his license plate number and a vehicle description to police.
Massachusetts State Police later saw the vehicle and tried to pull Hubbard over. He tried to escape, but he was ultimately stopped with a spike trap that punctured his tires, prosecutors said. Prosecutors said police seized $2,341 in cash and a high-capacity gun from the car.
