Providence Man Accused Of Robbing Smithfield Convenience Store At Knifepoint
Smithfield police said Jonathan Rivera, 35, of Providence, stole cash and cigarettes at 3 On 7 Fuel and Convenience at Douglas Pike.
SMITHFIELD, RI — A Providence man was arrested Monday after police said he robbed a convenience store in Smithfield at knifepoint on Saturday.
Jonathan Rivera, 35, was charged with first-degree robbery and was ordered held without bail at his arraignment Tuesday at Third District Court in Providence.
Smithfield police said they were called to the 3 On 7 Fuel and Convenience store at 351 Douglas Pike on Saturday morning for a report of an armed robbery. According to police, Rivera, while armed with a knife, stole cash and cigarettes from the clerk before riding away on a bicycle.

Police said they found Rivera's bicycle at the Alpine Motel at 485 Douglas Pike. Officers then got a search warrant for room 21 of the hotel, which contained evidence of the robbery, police said.
Rivera is scheduled to return to court on June 22 for a pr-trial hearing.
