Marijuana Grower Arrested: Smithfield Police
Joseph Ricci, 42, was charged with drug offenses, police said.
SMITHFIELD, RI—Police on Monday raided a commercial building at 256 Putnam Pike and arrested Joseph Ricci, 42, of Smithfield. Detectives also seized 42 marijuana plants and 6 individual bags of marijuana, weighing over 1 kilogram total. In addition, they took a digital scale, as well as packaging materials and growing equipment. The raid followed a tip about an alleged illegal marijuana grow at that address. An investigation followed, and the police obtained a search warrant.
Ricci was charged with Possession of Marijuana, 1 to 5 kilograms, and Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver. He was arraigned in Third District Court, held without bail and is due back in court on Nov. 6 for a bail hearing.
