Old County Road Students Warm Up Holidays With Blankets

Local volunteer picked up blankets for Mathewson Street Soup Kitchen Friday.

Kids from Old County Road School spent the tail end of their day Friday before Christmas vacation handing off some homemade blankets for the patrons of Mathewson Street Soup Kitchen to local volunteer Burliegh Briggs.

Second graders and fifth graders made the blankets for the needy and asked Briggs to take them to the soup kitchen for them. They've been working together, donations and delivery for two years now, said Old County Road School principal Laurie Sullivan

The 10 donated blankets count toward the fifth-graders' service project, said Sullivan. Dave's Marketplace donated the bags that each blanket was delivered in.
