• UNO Pizzeria & Grill in Warwick to close (wpri.com) — Smithfield diners lost their UNO Pizzeria & Grill more than a year ago, and now the chain’s last Rhode Island location in Warwick is closing this Sunday, Jan. 11. After that, the closest UNO will be across the border in Attleboro, Massachusetts, marking the end of the brand’s presence in the state.

• Analysis: Police overtime for Brown University shooting cost $646K (wpri.com) — Smithfield police were among numerous Rhode Island departments that racked up overtime helping Providence respond to the December Brown University shooting, part of more than $646,000 in extra police costs statewide. Providence alone spent over $528,000 on overtime, and state leaders are still exploring federal reimbursement for the emergency response.
