Smithfield EMA: High Winds Forecast Through Afternoon

The Smithfield Emergency Management Agency (EMA) reports there's a wind advisory for Smithfield and much of the surrounding area through 3 p.m.

The strongest winds are forecast for 10 a.m. through 3 p.m..  Southeast winds 15 - 25 mph with gusts of 45 mph are possible during this time period, according to the EMA alert, noting a National Weather Service report.

The National Weather Service has also issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook alert for the area, noting rain will continue throughout the day, possibly becoming heavy a times, causing minor urban and poor drainage flooding in some spots.
