Smithfield Fire Department to Host Open House This Weekend

The free event is scheduled for Saturday afternoon at the Smithfield Fire Department in Greenville.

There may be a new chief of the Smithfield Fire Department, but the practice of hosting an Open House every year continues this weekend — this year's event is scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 12 to 4 pm at fire headquarters in Greenville.

"This is an annual tradition here in Smithfield, and it's a pretty big thing — there's going to be a lot of activity here, [between] the activities for the kids and the demonstrations for the parents," Chief Robert Seltzer said during a recent interview. "It's a pretty big event, and it's going to be a lot of fun."
