Smithfield Needs a Few Good Residents for Charter Changes

The town of Smithfield is seeking members for a new Charter Commission.

The town of Smithfield is seeking a few good residents to help with changes to the municipal charter, reports The Valley Breeze and Observer. 

The citizen, volunteer-filled board will consist of nine members who will review the charter for updating, according to the article. 

The municipal charter must be reviewed every five years, according to law. The charter was last reviewed in 2008.

All interested Smithfield residents, who are registered to vote, should submit a letter of intent and resume to Dennis Finlay, Town Manager, Smithfield Town Hall, 64 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.

The deadline for submittal is April 23.
