Dog Dies In House Fire In Little Compton

Little Compton fire officials say crews were able to save two of the family's dogs, but the other died​.

LITTLE COMPTON, RI — A dog reportedly died in a house fire in Little Compton last week, fire officials said Saturday.

The fire started Wednesday evening at a home on Pottersville Road. Little Compton fire officials said the department required the held of Tiverton, Westport, Massachusetts, Portsmouth, Bristol, Middletown, Warren, and Rehobeth firefighters to extinguish the flames.

Fire officials said crews knocked down the flames quickly, but extensive overhaul was required to chase hotspots throughout the home. Fire officials told the Sakonnet Times crews were able to save two of the family's dogs, but the other died.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
