Teen Causes Lockdown At Tiverton High School, Fights Officers: Police
A student let a teen wearing a black ski mask into Tiverton High School, police said. A lockdown followed, as he did not go to the school.

TIVERTON, RI — A 16-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after police said he caused a lockdown at Tiverton High School and got in a fight with two police officers.
Around 8:13 a.m., police were called to Tiverton High School for a report of someone they did not want on school grounds. Police said when officers arrived, they saw the teen walk out the building wearing a black ski mask, a black sweatshirt, black pants and a black backpack.
School officials told officers the teen's presence forced Tiverton High School to go under lockdown. Police said the boy was known to school officials and officers from past incidents.

According to school officials, a teacher found the teen hiding in the school. He was escorted to the main office until police arrived. While at the main office, the teen created a disturbance once he found out that police were called, Tiverton police said.
Police said the teen did not go to the high school, but was instead taking online classes from home. According to police, the teen told officers he went to school to hang out with friends. He claimed he took the school bus and entered the school with other students at the beginning of the day, police said.

Police arrested the teen and charged him with disturbance of a public assembly and disorderly conduct. Officers searched the teen and found no weapons. He was issued a no trespass order forbidding him from entering school property.
The male was searched by officers and no weapons were discovered. The male was also issued a no trespass order forbidding him to enter school property.
The teen was then brought to Tiverton Police Headquarters for booking and to await a parent or guardian. During booking, the teen became combative with officers, police said.
A fight between the teen and two officers broke out, resulting in minor injuries for all involved, police said. The teen was then charged with a second count of disorderly conduct and obstruction of an officer in the execution of his/her duty.
The teen was brought to Newport Hospital as a precaution, police said. Once he was released, he was brought to Newport Family Court. He was since released to his parent with several conditions for release.
Police said officers and school officials later reviewed surveillance video and found that the teen had been driven to the school and did not take the bus. Once at the school, a student let the teen into the building through a side door, police said.
