2 Hospitalized After Warwick Motorcycle Crash: Cops

A motorcycle crashed into a motor vehicle, police said.

WARWICK, RI — A motorcycle operator and passenger were hospitalized following a Tuesday night crash in Warwick, police said.

Officers responded to the crash on Quaker Lane near Major Potter Road shortly before 7:30 p.m., the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

"The motorcycle operator and passenger, both of whom were wearing helmets at the time of the crash, were transported to Rhode Island Hospital with apparent non-life-threatening injuries," the release said. "The operator of the involved vehicle remained on scene."

The results of the crash investigation are pending but "operator impairment does not appear to be a factor at this time," according to the release.

Just a night earlier, a speeding motorcycle collided head-on with a Warwick Fire Department rescue vehicle, police said.

The rescue vehicle was returning to the station in a "non-emergency capacity" shortly after 7:30 p.m. when it was struck by the motorcycle on Diamond Hill Road near Larchmont Drive, the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

"The motorcycle operator had been traveling northbound on Diamond Hill Road when it lost control on approach to a bend in the roadway, crossing the double yellow line, and colliding head-on with WFD Rescue 2 which had been traveling in the southbound lane," the release said.

The operator of the motorcycle was hospitalized and treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," according to the release.
