'I Was Driving Home And Hit Somebody,' Driver Says After Fire Truck Crash: Video

The Warwick man was fleeing a head-on collision when he collided head-on with a fire truck, police said.

WARWICK, RI — A Warwick man explained to police that he was heading home when he "hit somebody" after colliding head-on with a fire truck, according to body cam video released by the police department.

"I was driving home and hit somebody," Brian Weaver, 46, told an officer, the video shows.

Weaver had struck a fire truck shortly before midnight Sunday, police said.

The fire truck was on its way to another head-on collision involving Weaver moments earlier, according to police.

Weaver first ran his Ford F-150 into a Toyota RAV4 on Westshore Road near Chesterfield Avenue, the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

Weaver was fleeing that crash when he hit the fire truck at the intersection of West Shore Road and Sandy Lane, according to the release.

When asked where he was heading home from, Weaver told police he was coming from the "pub around the corner," the video shows.
