Warwick Man Eludes Law Enforcement, Then Surrenders: Cops (patch.com) — A 23-year-old Warwick resident, Shakil Velazquez, is facing charges after allegedly leading Rhode Island State Police on a high-speed pursuit before later turning himself in at the Lincoln Woods Barracks. He was processed there and arraigned in Sixth Division District Court, drawing attention in Warwick to police efforts against dangerous driving and officer obstruction.
   

2. Fire Dept. upgrades fleet with new rescues (warwickonline.com) — Warwick residents can expect faster, more reliable emergency medical response now that two new rescue trucks are in service, replacing aging high‑mileage vehicles. Funded largely through federal grants and the city’s fleet plan, the upgrades support Warwick’s status as one of the nation’s safest cities and reduce dependence on mutual aid while expanding paramedic staffing and modern medical equipment on board.
   

3. Warwick city employee placed on leave after arrest (wpri.com) — A Warwick Water Division manager has been placed on unpaid leave after his recent arrest on domestic violence and drug charges, city officials confirmed. The same employee was previously named in two workplace lawsuits against the water department that the city settled this year for a combined $900,000. City leaders say they’re investigating while the legal case moves forward.
   

5. Thieves steal $470K worth of electrical wire from Rhode Island highways (turnto10.com) — Highway light wiring thefts have left several Rhode Island roads, including stretches near Warwick, dangerously dark while RIDOT scrambles to replace roughly 11 miles of stolen cable. Officials say thieves are cutting live wires through manholes and selling them for scrap, creating serious safety risks and hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs. Drivers are urged to report any suspicious activity near highway manholes.
