Speeding Motorcycle Crashed Head-On With Warwick FD Rescue Vehicle: Cops

The motorcycle crossed into the wrong lane on a curce, police said.

WARWICK, RI — A motorcycle crossed into the wrong lane and crashed head-on into a Warwick Fire Department rescue vehicle Monday night, police said.

The rescue vehicle was returning to the station in a "non-emergency capacity" shortly after 7:30 p.m. when it was struck by the motorcycle on Diamond Hill Road near Larchmont Drive, the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

"The motorcycle operator had been traveling northbound on Diamond Hill Road when it lost control on approach to a bend in the roadway, crossing the double yellow line, and colliding head-on with WFD Rescue 2 which had been traveling in the southbound lane," the release said.

The operator of the motorcycle was hospitalized and treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," according to the release.

The Warwick Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team investigated the crash, the release said.

"Initial evidence shows that the motorcyclist's speed was a factor," according to the release.
