Warwick Doctor Performed Laser Surgery On Wrong Eye: Department Of Health
The doctor admitted to operating on the wrong eye, the department of health said.

WARWICK, RI — A Warwick physician performed laser surgery on a patient's right eye when he was supposed to operate on the left eye, the Rhode Island Department of Health said.
Dr. Charles C. Calenda admitted his mistake and was fined $1,100, according to the department of health.
The patient who Calenda mistakenly lasered filed a complaint against him in June 2024, according to a Rhode Island Board of Medical Licensure and Discipline consent order.

Calenda's staff dilated the patient's left eye for laser surgery, the order said, but Calenda mistakenly operated on the right eye instead.
