Warwick School Bus Crashes Into Wooded Embankment: Police
Driver error caused the crash, police said.
WARWICK, RI — A school bus ran off the road and crashed into a wooded embankment Tuesday, police said.
The bus "veered off the right side of the road and entered a wooded embankment" near Quaker Lane, the Warwick Police Department said in a media release.

"At the time of the crash, the bus was occupied by seven juvenile passengers and the driver," the release said. "Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported."

The 76-year-old driver was "properly licensed and actively employed by First Student," according to the release.

"A preliminary investigation determined that neither speed nor intoxication was a contributing factor," the release said. "Following a mechanical inspection of the vehicle and a review of interior video footage, investigators concluded that operator error was the cause of the crash."

The driver was not cited for a motor vehicle violation due to the crash occurring on private property, police said.
