Warwick Woman Killed In Providence Shooting
Mya Brophy-Baerman, 24, was talking with friends early Sunday when struck by gunfire from a passing car, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Police say a Warwick woman was killed early Sunday in a drive-by shooting in Providence.
Around 3:30 a.m. police responded to Olney Street for a report of a shooting. Mya Brophy-Baerman, 24, was standing out on the street talking to friends when she was shot by people driving by in a car, Major David Lapatin of the Providence Police Department told WPRI. Lapatin said Brophy-Baerman was not the intended target in the city's 13th homicide of the year.
The deadly shooting was one of four violent incidents in Providence early Sunday. Around 4:30 a.m. five people, including a 16-year-old, were shot and injured outside an apartment complex on Reservoir Ave. Stabbings were reported at Union Avenue and on Broad Street.
