5 RI Elementary Students Hospitalized After Eating Weed Gummies

One of the students found the edibles in their mother's bedroom​​, according to police.

WOONSOCKET, RI — Five elementary school students in Woonsocket were hospitalized after eating marijuana gummies Wednesday, according to police.

Police told NBC 10 the children from Harris Elementary School are going to be OK.

One of the students found the edibles in their mother's bedroom, according to police. Police told WPRI 12 the mother was frustrated her child found them. Police said she told her child the gummies were adult medicine, and she thought they were secured in the drawer.

Police notified the Department of Children, Youth and Families, but said the mother is fully cooperating with the investigation.
