Front Street Girl Performs ShelterWalk Serenade

As blue-clad Shelterwalkers streamed along Front Street during their three-mile fund and awareness-raising stroll, Briana Lachappelle, 7, stood in a pink tutu on her front step and sang to them.

The singing was well-received, prompting smiles and cheers from the walkers, who would be hard pressed to place her tunes among the Top 40 hits. "She just makes up her own songs," said her aunt, Stephanie Cruz.

As for her attire, Cruz said despite the good cause, the ShelterWalkers weren't the reason for Brianna's dancer threads. "That's her every-day wear," Cruz said.

Brianna has a passion for performing, said her mom, Monica LaChapelle. "She wants to be on American Idol so bad," she said.
