Suspected Woonsocket Bank Robber Arrested in MA

Jeremy Lopes, 24, allegedly robbed the Santander Bank on Social Street on June 18 in Woonsocket and will be spending the weekend at the ACI.

WOONSOCKET, RI—Woonsocket police say they've nabbed a bank robber.

Jeremy Lopes, 24, of Fall River, MA, was arrested in Fitchburg by the U.S. Marshals Solemn Task Force and the Massachusetts State Police Fugitive Task Force without incident and will be held at the Adult Correctional Institutions in Cranston pending his arraignment in Sixth Division District Court on Monday for a first-degree robbery charge.

Lopes is alleged to have robbed the Santander Bank on Social Street in Woonsocket on June 18. He allegedly passed a note to the teller and fled with an undetermined amount of cash.

Woonsocket police said they "would like to thank the US Marshals, Massachusetts State Police, the Rhode Island State Police and the public with their help in apprehending Lopes," according to a post on the department's Facebook page.

Woonsocket Det. Sgt. Matthew Richardson led the investigation.
